I decided this month's newsletter will focus on something every business owner is constantly looking for ... ways to advertise on a limited budget. In today's economy, money is tight and advertising budgets are being stretched thin. This is the best time to take a good long look at where you are advertising and if it is really worth the money. Are you advertising in the same place over and over? If so, are you getting a good return on the money spent? I bet you haven't even thought about it. Especially if it is somewhere that auto deducts your payment each month. I know some experts tell you that just
because you advertise today doesn't
mean that you will reap the
rewards today. It may be weeks
or months down the road. True.
However, on the other hand, is it
worth the money if you do not reap
any customers at all? So take a
look at where you are currently
advertising and try some of these
sites that I have found.

"I have known Deneen for a few years now and I am very impressed with her honesty and help. She is very helpful and went above the line of duty to help me. I am very grateful for this as I don't encounter this very often. Deneen had proof read for me and she was so good to me as English is my second language and she was a bit confused at first as to what I wanted her to do but she kept communicating with me until we understood each other. I highly recommend Deneen to anyone who want to deal with someone honest, helpful and knows her business well."

According to Tom Egelhoff of "How to Market, Advertise and Promote Your Business or Service in a Small Town," budget conscious advertisers must achieve top results for their advertising dollar. Expand your dollars by adopting some creative techniques. If there is one mistake small town businesses make more often than any other it's, "What ever is left over, we'll use for advertising." A great way to get your company's name in front of a local crowd is to sponsor an event. For example, a local festival, fair, fundraiser, etc. These organizations will print your company name and logo (sometimes your website address) on all of their printed promotional material. This is a great way to not only promote your company but also show community support. How much you spend will determine how much visibility your company will receive.

Typing Bug has gone mobile!
I found a great site Wix.com that allows you to set up a mobile website for free. These days, you have to be accessible to your clients/ customers in whatever form available. This was so easy. It took me about 15 minutes of cut/paste from existing copy I already had and ta da, I had a mobile site. They have lots of templates to help you get started.
Here is my site if you want to check it out on the web or if you want to check it out on your smart phone, click on the QR code.
If you haven't advertised on Thumbtack.com, you are missing out on a great resource. When someone told me about the site a few years ago, I was amazed at the options that you get with the free service. Not only do you get to have your company in their listings, it will also give you the option to contact your customers directly asking for testimonials, give you a badge to put on your own website, tie in with your Facebook and Twitter account. It will even run a background check on you so you can offer that as another aspect of being "trustworthy" (ok, this one was a little out there for me but it sounded interesting). It also gives you a printable flyer of the information that you posted on their site to hand out. All of this for free. Only takes a few minutes to set up. I have obtained a few of my clients from this site and highly recommend them. Check it out!

This is another great site that is free to use. It is especially great for non-profits and community groups. Most users find this site through major search engines like Google and Yahoo. Check it out to see if there is a page set up for your town. You can post events and press releases and it will show on your town's website for that time period. It also allows you to send your press release to local
media outlets. Check
Are you utilizing the blank space at the bottom of your emails to tell your customers more about your company? If not, you are missing the boat. Why not use the space with a WiseStamp signature block. You can either pick out a template or build your own. Easily include not only your standard contact info but also your IM addresses, social networking sites, even your last tweet on Twitter will show up. It works with webmail too! I like that I can set up a business signature block and a personal one too!
Many of these can be done with little to no money, and will cost you nothing more than a bit of your time. Check out Small Biz Bee's article here.
