Giveaway of the Day
The Typing Bug is working on it's first radio commercial. I am working with WTUF FM 106.3 in Thomasville, Georgia to produce a 60 second spot. The commercial will run several times a day. I am so excited about this opportunity. The greatest advantage of this particular radio station (other than the great people that work there) is the fact that anyone that has internet can listen to their station via streaming audio. Just go to their site: www.wtufradio.com/streaming.html and listen in.

Everyone learned how to stop, drop and roll as a small child. As you age, somehow that isn't as easy as it used to be.  October is Fire Safety Month. In observance of that, here are some links for older adults to keep them fire safe.

NEWSLETTER SPECIAL
Every day I speak to managers, executives and sales personnel about what holds them back from achieving the success they want and earning the incomes they desire. Every day I hear the same thing: Fear. Fear of getting a no, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of rejection and the list goes on. But fear has a structure and when you know the structure, you can make it disappear. Read Full Article from David Kynan.

After reading multitude of forum entries over the years about people losing contents due to not backing up, you would think that some of that would have filtered in. I am not sure why I cannot just learn from other people's mistakes. It seems less painful that way.

My husband and I learned how a few inches left or right will dictate your schedule for the next month. It only took a split second to lean the wrong way and knock a bookshelf of knives on top of my laptop.  It wouldn't have been so bad if the laptop was old and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately this one I had just purchased a few months earlier. Of course, Dell (whom I dearly loved before this happened) told me that without accident insurance, I was basically out of luck. I had purchased a warranty when I ordered the laptop but it didn't cover accidents. After weeks of telephone calls and emails, not to mention hours of screaming and crying, my husband, bless his heart, finally got it all back working and I only ended up having to replace the hard drive, docking station and my wireless keyboard. At least it was better than the entire laptop. All I can say is thank goodness for online webmail. I had not had a chance to move my email from my webmail to Outlook. Whew!  Lessons learned?
Lessons Learned The Hard Way
60 Second Soundbite Genius
Find out what most people don't know: How to get the media to give you those seconds, and then use them to their fullest advantage to grow your career.

Try this self-test right now. Imagine you're about to get a call from Oprah tomorrow. What would you say about your book, business, product or cause? Go ahead. Try it out loud right now.

Is what you said your best effort at representing yourself to millions? Remember, most people will not get a second chance at passing the producer's audition. You might not know it but every call from a newspaper or magazine editor or a radio or TV producer is an audition. And if you don't pass they move on to the next person—your competition.

When you go to the store, do you blow in like a hurricane and start barking out orders to every person who crosses your path? Why not? You’re the customer aren’t you? They are in business to serve your needs, aren’t they? You are the very reason for their existence. What does it matter that there are other customers there before you? Shouldn’t they be doing everything you want, exactly how you want it, when you want it? The customer is ALWAYS right! Right?

What would happen if your business worked that way? What kind of resources would you need in order to deliver service like that?

Why Virtual Assistants Should Consider Affiliate Marketing
One of the best things you can do starting out is to become an affiliate for your clients. That way, you can test the materials and see what works and what doesn't work. As you get the hang of promoting affiliate products, you can add more products to your portfolio and promote them through your e-mail sigature, newsletter or blog.
